Redwood Freshman Dominate Petaluma in Season Opener: 11-0

Called after 5 innings, a strong offense, tight defense and shutout pitching combined for the win. Eight players each contributed base hits to Redwood’s offense with back-to-back doubles to deep center field by Drake Goodman & Satoshi Miki highlighting a 4-run 3rd inning to break the game open. Jonathan Yu and Jackson Reed also contributed RBI singles. Redwood’s offense was assisted by 6 Petaluma walks, 2 HBP and 5 errors in this 5 inning game.

Spectators observed several sparkling defensive plays including a throw from Satoshi Miki (RF) to Alex Hagen (2B) to Jake Gassman (C) to cut down a Petaluma runner at home.

Jesse Gassman and Drake Goodman combined for the shutout, recording 10 strikeouts, while giving up a total of 4 hits with starting pitcher Jesse giving up one hit while striking out 6 over the first three innings.
