Redwood JV Ends Preseason Undefeated

3/03/20: Vintage and Redwood were both undefeated coming into this game and Redwood ran away with a 5-1 victory.Miles Kawashima was amazing on the mound, pitching a complete game, striking out three while only allowing four hits and a run.
Miles Kawashima shut down the Crushers
He was backed up by his fielders who made some great plays, the most outstanding being Brian Sternberger laying out to knock down a grounder and throwing the hitter out at first. Colin Cuneen made some great picks at first and Nick Scott and Tyler Blair made all the plays in the outfield. While Will Davis, Dylan Jensen, Brian Sternberger, and Colin Cuneen kept the infield tight, Connor Yang was behind the plate and didn’t allow a single stolen base.
The offense was very strong led by Will Davis who went 3-3 and Zack Johnson who went 2-3 scoring twice with 1 RBI. Connor Yang smoked a double near the left field wall in the first to score Zack Johnson who got on base with a single and moved on to second with a sac fly by Nick Scott. Redwood took the lead in the second by scoring four runs.
Brian Sternberger headed to third
It started when Brian Sternberger crushed a triple to left field and scored Colin Cuneen and Josh Morerro who was pinch running for Will Davis. Then Zack Johnson singled to score Brian Sternberger, and Nick Scott doubled to score Zack Johnson. Overall, Redwood tallied ten hits and five runs with 3 stolen bases by Dillon Jensen, Josh Marerro and Zack Johnson.
They head into the MCAL season undefeated and plan to continue the streak as they head out on the road against San Rafael on Friday, March 13.
